MMSB Consult was appointed as the Civil & Structural, Electrical & Mechanical Consulting Engineer for a 'Design and Build' contract for the Jalan Sultan Azlan Shah road improvement project which involved the construction of a viaduct along Federal Route 6 and the improving / upgrading of the at-grade Jalan Sultan Azlan Shah, located within congested urban environment. The proposed viaduct flies over the Bayan Baru roundabout and the Jalan Aziz Ibrahim / Jalan Sultan Azlan Shah intersection. The viaduct, elevated for approximately 2.4 kilometres, consists of a four lane divided carriageway of JKR U5 standard with an exit and entry ramp near the Bayan Baru roundabout. The existing at-grade median centre is utilized as the central control point for the elevated portion. This allowed optimization of space in a heavily congested urbanised environment.
MMSB's scope included structural design, street lighting, deck drainage system, at-grade roads and junctions design as well as highway alignments.
